Found a box of old cards, or wondering what your best pull is worth? You do not need to guess. Here is how collectors work out what a sports card is really worth.
1. Identify the Exact Card
Write down the year, brand, set, card number and player, plus any parallel colour, serial number (like 23/50), autograph or patch. Two cards of the same player can be worth very different amounts, so the details matter.
2. Look at Sold Prices, Not Asking Prices
Asking prices show what sellers hope to get. Sold prices show what buyers actually paid. Search for your exact card on eBay and filter by sold listings, or use a sales tracker such as 130point or Card Ladder. Compare at least a few recent sales.
3. Match the Condition or Grade
Raw and graded cards sell for very different prices, and so do different grades. Compare a raw card with raw sales and a PSA 9 with PSA 9 sales. Our guide to the PSA grading scale explains why a PSA 10 can be worth several times more than a 9.
4. Check the Population Report
For graded cards, the PSA population report shows how many copies exist at each grade. Low population usually means higher value, especially at the top grade.

5. Decide Whether to Grade It
If a raw card looks clean and the graded version sells for much more than the cost of grading, it may be worth sending in. Read raw vs graded cards and how to submit cards to PSA from Canada before you decide.
